January Heist Leads to Arrest EASTERN CAPE – Two alleged cash-in-transit robbers are expected to appear this coming Thursday, 12 March 2020, in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court for a heist which was perpetrated in January this year. On 21 January 2018 a 20 year old armed robbery suspect was arrested by members of SAPS Bethelsdorp Crime Prevention Unit. The complainant and her friend were allegedly robbed at gun point by a group of 8 males on Friday evening, 19 January 2018 while they were seated in the car outside her house in Ext 21 Bethelsdorp. In the night of Thursday, 3 August two suspects were wounded and arrested after a car chase and shootout with police. This followed after Bluewater Bay Spar was robbed by four suspects at 19:20. The suspects entered the Spar shooting in the air and cleaning out all the cashiers and also taking cartons of cigarettes. At about 11:15 am today, a G4S security guard was guarding an ATM technician at an ATM when they were robbed by three armed suspects. The ABSA Cash Express next to Emaqadini Supermarket in Ntlobo Street, NU12, Motherwell was being serviced by the technician while the guard stood watch outside, when the three suspects approached them and robbed the guard of his 9mm pistol. The Boardwalk Casino & Entertainment Centre confirmed that a jewellery store in the Centre was held up during an armed robbery on 4 May, just after 6pm. Four robbers entered and left the Centre on foot, via the Marine Drive entrance. One of the robbers entered the store, while another held a security guard at gunpoint.
