Eastern Province Rugby Union clubs had a tough start at the beginning of the SA Rugby Southern Amateur Provincial Tournament hosted by EP Rugby in Humansdorp this week. With the wet and rainy conditions for the last three rounds of EP Seniors Amateur competitions, the stalwarts played on. Uitenhage had just seen high volumes of rain two days before that tournament, and then just as St Francis tournament was about to start, torrential rain just two days before the match threatened the start of the competition. Sunday 12th June. The EP Senior Amateur golfers took to the Uitenhage Golf Course in the 3rd round of the regional competition. The golf course having battled the elements and big rains and floods in the week leading up to the weekend, was a quagmire of standing water, sand bunkers filled to the brim with water and mushy underfoot from standing water aplenty along the fairways.
