Swimming Pool Debacle

By

Dear Sir,

What an embarrassment for this Metro in light of the fact that here we are hosting a world class swimming gala attended by Olympic champions giving us the opportunity to showcase ourselves.

Instead we have become the laughing stock of the swimming world! An opportunity for our own swimmers to qualify for the world championships has literally gone down the drain, a situation where our swimmers were too embarrassed to even wear their Eastern Province tracksuits!

On the technical side we lost two days of this national gala due to the fact that a standby pump was not available when the one in use broke down, and furthermore the pool caretaker was given leave for this week, the most important week on the swimming calendar!

Moreover it has since become apparent that the water was not treated correctly!

Talk about ineptocrasy!
