Nwabisa April is a luminous wordsmith born and raised in Motherwell, she is affectionately known to her followers as StaticFlo. The name StaticFlo is a paradox that is effectively captured by her appearance, she embraces her femininity while she unleashes a beast on stage. She was bitten by the Hip Hop bug in High School and began writing and performing music around 2010. She was an instant darling to Port Elizabeth crowds as she was bringing a rich and meaningful subject in a time where the Hip Hop scene was male dominated. Her eloquence, crude energy and humble demeanour opened critical doors for her as she was one of the artists who not only performed at the One Blood Festival a Bohemian reggae and hip hop event in Port Elizabeth but went on to record a song titled Mandela Bae with Reason The Mass the hit maker who was a headliner in the year 2011. She captured the ears of a respected KZN Producer Mbzet whose catalogue is impressive and has worked with numerous mainstream artists, He featured StaticFlo on his annual Ladies Night cipher that was released on the 9th August (2014). (Which has appeared on B.E.T, The Hiphop effect Sabc 1) Fast forward StaticFlo a mother and a wife believes that Hip Hop is a potent tool that can be used to educate, engage and shape society more especially at this time where we are faced with crippling Gender based Violence and escalating crime. Time is ripe for woman to not only be brought and viewed by society as accessories and beautifying objects but as meaningful contributors, said StaticFlo. She has a couple of singles that were warmly received under her name and continues to curate content that is spiritual, mind blowing and Christ centred. Album titled “The Completion” is available on all digital platforms. StaticFlo continues to entertain, awaken and educate her peers and those that take time to lend her an ear.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
