The Southern Kings would like to congratulate the Warriors cricket team on reaching the final of the CSA T20 Challenge, and would like to extend their well-wishes to Coach Malibongwe Maketa and his team when they take on the Multiply Titans in Centurion on Friday.
Ahead of the upcoming Vodacom Super Rugby campaign in 2017, the Southern Kings draw inspiration from the feat achieved by the Warriors, who have shown a warrior-like fighting spirit throughout their journey to the final in their CSA T20 Challenge campaign.
The manner in which the Warriors have flown the Nelson Mandela Bay and Eastern Cape flag so high, and also brought the people of the province to rally behind them, is what the Southern Kings believe and stand for.
The Southern Kings hope to emulate the pride the Warriors have instilled in the people of the Eastern Cape when they too take to the field in February next year for the start of the Vodacom Super Rugby competition.
“We would like to wish the Warriors all the very best for their final on Friday,” Southern Kings COO Charl Crous said.
“It is really great an Eastern Cape team perform so well and carry the name of the city of Nelson Mandela Bay and the province with so much honour. We are confident the Warriors will continue with their impressive performances and will bring the cup home.”
Southern Kings assistant coach Barend Pieterse also conveyed his message of support: “The Warriors have won six of their 10 matches in the competition, that is no easy feat. They have played some great cricket this season and deserve every success that is coming their way. We at the Southern Kings are proud of them and we wish them all the best for the final. Bring it home, boys!”
The Southern Kings will be watching with much anticipation and cheering Warriors on, in the hope that they will be able to repeat what the Eastern Province cricket team achieved when they captured the Africa T20 Cup at the start of the cricket season.
