Southern Kings fire warning crescendo

By

The Southern Kings warmed up chilly fans this evening with a fiery display of running rugby. In the process they sent a clear message to South Africa’s rugby teams; “Don’t send your reserves to play – bring your A-Game!”

Admittedly the Blue Bulls didn’t bring their A team to the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for the clash – a decision which they may be regretting now, though.

The Southern Kings played a good running game and were not afraid to attack from deep in their 22 time after time.

The Port Elizabeth rugby viewing public were treated to 13 tries, 3 penalties and 10 conversions for a bag of 94 poits in the game.

Soyizwapi, Dukisa and Gates displayed good control and evaded Bulls defenders with ease setting the Kings up for ten tries vs three for the Bulls.

The Bulls elected to kick for points on most of their penalties whilst the Southern Kings pushed for the 7 points at every chance that they got.

Defence from the Kings was outstanding as they repulsed wave after wave of Blue attackers.

BG Uys and Devon Oosthuizen from the Kings and Carlo Engelbrecht from the Bulls all spent time in the sin bin.

The Southern Kings next game is against the Sharks on 4 July 2014 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
