Eskom earlier this afternoon issued s a statement informing the public that; “The power system is severely constrained.”
According to Eskom the return to service of five generating units has been delayed whilst a further two units were either shut down or tripped.
The return to service of two generating units at the Tutuka power station has been delayed as well as units at Duvha, Matimba and Kusile power stations.
A unit at Tutuka tripped and Kusile’s Unit 1 was shutdown.
These breakdowns contributed to unplanned maintenance levels of almost 11 000 MW.
No loadshedding was planned but a warning to use electricity sparingly was issued.
