Port Elizabeth – Police are offering a R30 000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the murder of 20-year-old Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University student, Asadullah Ajimudin.
The second-year computer science and applied mathematics student, originally from Kimberley, was found unconscious and severely beaten, with his body hidden and left for dead in his flatlet in Ben Viljoen Street, Summerstrand, on August 8 this year.
He died a few days later after his family made the call to switch off the life-support machines when he failed to respond to treatment.
He had extensive injuries, including swelling of the brain, believed to have been sustained from a severe beating with a cricket bat.
At the time it was believed that the robbers had climbed over the perimeter electric fencing and gained entry to the flatlet by forcing open the sliding door, before attacking Ajimudin.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said police were urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the case.
Anyone with information may contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer Arthur Smouse on 084 835 2516, Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or Crime Line 32211.
