And the dam levels increase for the fourth week in a row to a total capacity of 43.02% representing an increase of 3.03 percentage points from 39.1% capacity last week.
The Port Elizabeth weather man is predicting another 7.2 millimetres of rain to-morrow so we can expect more increase in the dam levels next week Monday IF we continue to save water.
The respective capacities of the major storage dams supplying Nelson Mandela Bay as measured on 30 May 2011 are as follows:
- Kouga: 52.8%
- Churchhill: 37.2%
- Impofu: 23.9%
- Loerie: 78.1%
- Groendal: 100%
- Average all: 43.02% of total combined capacity.
The municipality remains concerned about the capacity of the Impofu Dam which supplies a majority of the city. Water restrictions remain in place.
