What KB wrote; “The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality would like to request motorists to exercise extreme care by adhering to safe following distances on all the roads as water levels are rising due to persistent rain.
“Roads affected at this stage are Govan Mbeki Avenue and Green Street, M4 opposite North End Prison, Burman Road (Deal Party), Kempston Road and Cresswell, Commercial Road, Villiers Road, Burchell, Targetkloof, Third Avenue Dip and Daku Road.
“However, this does not mean that other roads could not present life threatening risks especially in lower lying areas.”
I was up at 3:30 am this morning not only listening to the rain bucketing down but also to my neighbours two doors up who decided to have YALP – Yet Another Loud Party – Doef, Doef, Doef is not the best complement to the musical sound of rain cascading down from the heavens. I could tell the old long story about what happened to my erstwhile noisy Redhouse neighbours but will keep it short – 6 bullets from a .32 will certainly get your attention next time.
The Port Elizabeth weatherman is currently predicting another 6.2 millimetres of rain for this weekend so do exercise caution on the roads.
