Port Elizabeth – Ahead of their MTN8 Final clash against Ajax Cape Town at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium this weekend, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane says the Phefeni Glamour Boys will be all out to defend their crown at all costs.
The Amakhosi and the Urban Warriors will square-off for R8m grand prize at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday.
Heading to the final, Chiefs defeated Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1 on aggregate after a two legged semi-final encounter while the Mother City based outfit eliminated Bidvest Wits with the same aggregate respectively.
“Beyonce” believes that the Amakhosi have all the capabilities to return their trophy back to Naturena after the final whistle.
“For us as a team it’s an honour to be playing in the final again,” said Letsholonyane.
“We are all excited about it and we are looking forward to it.
“As we know that that we are the defending champions, it is our primary goal to go out there and defend it and I know we have what it takes.
“We have worked so hard to be where we are in this competition today.”
The reigning champions managed to finish the Wafa-Wafa tournament without conceding a single goal last season and they have already conceded four goals so far in the current campaign.
However, Letsholonyane says that it is because most regular players in the heart of their defence last season such as Tefu Mashemaite are no longer with the team and their newly recruited players are still settling in at the club.
“Things do change; this is football we are talking about.
“We obviously have new players in the team and they are still gelling in the team.
“All of them are playing great but we are a bit worried because we are conceding goals and we didn’t do that last season.
“But if you check, most players who were with us last season and played regularly are gone.
“And now we are still trying out the new combinations but we’ll get there.”
The much anticipated clash is set to commence at 15:00.
