Protocol offers Something for Free Plus a Stab at a Case of Wine

20 September 2011 By Alan Straton

Local film producer, Neil Hetherington’s 26 part series, ‘Protocol’ will be aired in October 2011 via a ‘free to air’ telecast on DSTV Channel 901. Protocol can be accessed by anyone with a DSTV decoder and smartcard, regardless of whether or not you are currently a subscriber.

Although there’s no cost involved to get access to the channel, you will need to forward your decoder and smartcard serial numbers through to Neil via e-mail, SMS or landline, including the Country, Province, City or Town where you live.

‘Protocol’ is a weekly magazine showcase dedicated to the Eastern Cape Province and its people providing a unique spectator window to social events, entrepreneurial skills and tourist attractions that are indigenous to the Eastern Cape.

A mirror to the events, developments and happenings taking place throughout the Province the series offers its audience a close-up opportunity to learn more about the ‘sights & sounds’ of this vibrant and unique region of South Africa. It features the arts, the culture and the business community of the Province and highlights some of the pertinent issues that face the people who live in and around the Eastern Cape. Most importantly the series will target a general national audience regardless of age, religion or culture.

Executive producer Phumla Citeko is passionate about the Eastern Cape. Born and schooled in the Nelson Mandela Bay area she is actively involved in and supportive of the arts. A composer and vocalist she recently released her debut album of self-penned songs that are expressive of her Xhosa Culture. She is also a member of the Nelson Mandela Bay film steering committee and in her capacity as editor-in-chief and executive producer of PROTOCOL now extends her creative vision to the television screen.

Once you have sent your details you may strike it lucky and get a case of Cape wines into the bargain.

If DSTV broadcast free to air they loose their licence See ECA 2005. Spoke to Ronnie at Global Acess and he confirmed that they would not broacast free to air…. Something stinks here….

Neil assures me that everything is ‘above board’. But, not being inclined to chase up DSTV myself – the thought of 2 hours of muzak doesn’t fill me with glee! – I must say that we will wait and see. If the shows do go through free to air as scheduled then our little Guest’s Comment will be revealed as nothing more than drivel ……..

I don’t think that Neil would have sent this info out in such a public manner and with the knowledge that he could be transgressing any ‘law’.
