A series of Peace Education Workshops facilitated by the South Africa National Peace Project (SANPP) and international Teachers Without Borders (TWB) saw 110 teachers in the Nelson Mandela Metropole become the catalyst in setting up Peace Clubs in schools.
Teachers and learners adopted the SANPP logo, with the slogan NO RACISM NO VIOLENCE PEACE, for the Peace Clubs and soon peace banners and peace flags will be a regular sight at schools. A billboard reflecting Violence Free, Racist Free and Drug Free days at schools will instill new values for Peace in schools.
Currently an online fundraising campaign initiated by TWB in the USA hopes to generate capital to assist with the buying of the above items and PeaceKits consisting of a T-shirts, Cap, Bandana and Flag.
The SANPP was inspired by Mr Nelson Mandela, and a Peace Music Festival/Indaba is on the cards for 2012.
