Our Country is in Massive Poofy Kakka Wee Wee

During a conversation around the upcoming National Elections with a fellow scribe earlier this week he pointed out a further reason why people are very reluctant to NOT vote for the ruling party.

We are all aware that the National Party were extremely good at ensuring that they reserved all government jobs for supporters (by definition all white and mostly male).

We are aware of the culture of patronage that was created by the National Party – directed towards their voters – mostly white and male.

We are aware of the job reservation and poor education dished out to black people – all in support of the National Party voters.

Moving on a step forward we are all aware of just how well the current ANC led Government applied and amplified the above ‘misuse of state funds’ to shore up their voter numbers.

We know that the ANC is pro-poor and has increased the number, volume and value of social grants to very high levels.

We know that the ANC plays to their voters in many ways – BEE etc.

All the above are calculated to show the electorate that if they do not vote for a particualr party in power that they MAY lose their social grants/positions of privilege/access to tenders etc.

BUT

My friend pointed out ONE MORE REASON why home owners will continue to vote for the ANC – simply put the perception and experience by many when they compare municipalities run under the ANC with the same municipalities run by the DA (coalition or not), is that the ANC led governments do NOT come after you when you owe rates and taxes or lights and water money whereas the DA is all about the rule of law and stick to making their revenue collection targets.

SO

This is why I say that we are in SHIT:

  • On the one hand we have many social grants and jobs for votes
  • On the other hand we have a population voting for the thieves as they benefit from their inability to collect money.
