Only a Fiver to ‘Help us Help the Children’

Hundreds of children are to benefit from funds raised through the 24th Port Elizabeth Toy Run®, an annual charity event supported by the biking community, taking place on Sunday 29 November 2015.

Annually the event seeks to reach as many as 5000 children through various elements of this long standing fund raising effort. Eight beneficiaries in the Metro, caring for many underprivileged children, have been identified as the 2015 recipients: ACVV Kamvalethu in Korsten; Missionvale Care Centre’s new school; Sebenza Embroidery (Despatch); Tand’ Dusana in Newton Park; Walmer Angel Projects; Masimanyane Day care in Despatch; Piet Retief Primary in Sidwell and Care Ministry in Uitenhage. Managing members of the Toy Run® committee nominate worthy beneficiaries annually and the selection is made after site visits and due diligence is conducted.

“The raising of funds to support the chosen charities would not be possible without the generous sponsors who contribute towards our raffle draw, the means through which we raise the majority of the funds that benefit the many children we reach out to. Equally important is the public who support our raffle ticket sales and the bikers who attend the annual Toy Run® mass ride event and donate toys on the day.” says Tony Halket, Chairman of the organising committee.

“Raffle tickets remain affordable at R5 each with a chance to win prizes to the value of R38000. Our plea goes out to citizens of the Bay to support our selling points. It is evident that people in the Metro have a heart for children – it is evident in the event’s growth year after year.” adds Halket.
