North End Lake Fuel Spill – Boy Did We Get it WRONG

Whilst all all along we thought that Algoa Bay and it’s penguins and marine life were under threat from a fuel spill we failed to look at our inner city lakes – more specifically the North End Lake which experienced a fuel spill of large proportions this morning.

Early reports say the the fuel spill originated from Aspen.

Apparently the containment measures began at 7:00 am this morning with Xtreme Projects placing containment barriers across the lake.

It is said that Aspen had diesel pumps running to fill generators that were left on, overflowed into the storm water drains and into the lake.

The extent of the spill is said to be hundreds if not thousands of liters.

At the time of writing Aspen had not iissued a statement.

So, it could now be said that loadshedding is not only bad for our economy and appliances but also bad for our environment.
