I am often reminded of Mr ‘Trolley for Trolley’ – former Checkers MD, Clive Weil – whenever people bemoan the high cost of certain service delivery items in Nelson Mandela Bay when compared to, say, the City of Cape Town.
This gripe is up there with whenever a new incoming business proudly announces that they will provide many more jobs whilst conveniently forgetting that churn is a real thing and they have not taken into account the number of jobs that will be lost by small business as a result of a new bigger player in the market.
Below is a chart from Outlier.co.za presenting a comparison of costs at dumpsites in the major metros.
For residents and business alike the amounts charged are a revelation and must surely be lauded.
As an aside NMB Metro – please don’t take this as encouragement to raise prices per tonne – rather remember Mr ‘Trolley for Trolley’ and take a holistic view of all charges raised.
