Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Awards Launched to Celebrate Local Tourism Excellence

9 February 2024: The inaugural Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism Awards (NMBTA) has been announced to celebrate and recognize tourism excellence in Business and Leisure Tourism in Nelson Mandela Bay. The NMBTA are an expansion from the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Events Awards (NMBBEA) which were established in 2019 focusing on excellence in the Business Events industry.

NMBTA aim to recognise and reward leisure and business tourism businesses and individuals who are passionate and committed to promoting Nelson Mandela Bay as a destination of choice. The awards will highlight and promote service and product excellence across the Nelson Mandela Bay tourism industry.

According to Caro Morgan, the co-founder, “The NMBTA are a natural progression from the NMBBEA. By including categories for Leisure Tourism, we are able to recognize more of the hidden gems in our destination. These awards will highlight the tourism excellence on offer in Nelson Mandela Bay to visitors and locals alike.”

The NMBTA will include seven categories which are:

  1. Accommodation
  2. Caterer
  3. Photographer / Videographer
  4. Tourist Attractions / Tourism Activity
  5. Tour Guide
  6. Transport
  7. Up & Coming (Youth focused)

The date for nominations will be publicized soon and the winners will be announced at a prestigious event as part of the Tourism Month celebrations in September.
