Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium’s ‘Shambolic Security’ Slammed

Hugo Broos on NMB Stadium Security: “I think in the future, and it is not up to us, but as a coach I will have to ask the people of Safa if they are sure of the security in the stadium they chose. I can’t understand why before the break, I saw for an example only ten security guys but after the break suddenly there were 50.

“Where were they from the beginning of the game? We are playing a very important game and we nearly had a problem because we had two kids in the moment of enthusiasm and happiness running onto the field and nobody did something.

“There was not even a security official who was running behind those guys, this is something we need to take into account for the next game where we are going to play.”

Hugo Broos on Lyle Foster’s injury: ‘Its nothing bad, but…’: Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has downplayed the severity of Lyle Foster’s injury, but he has a small concern about the striker.

On Friday evening, Foster was carried off on a stretcher when Bafana thrashed Congo Brazzaville 5-0 in the 2025 AFCON qualifying match at a packed Nelson Mandela Stadium, in Gqeberha.

The Burnley FC striker was also on the scoresheet, scoring in the 51st minute to make it 4-0. The 24-year-old later collided with the opposition goalkeeper, chasing the ball. He was taken off just after the hour mark; in the 66th minute and he was replaced by Iqraam Rayners who netted the fifth goal.

Bafana coach Broos feels vindicated for showing faith in Mudau and Mokoena: “I know Teboho for two years already. If I am not mistaken, he had his first selection when I became the coach. The progression that he has made in the past two years is enormous, he has become a very good player,” said Broos after the match.
