Take a leap of faith fellow Gqeberha experts and list your expertise here: MyPR #JournoRequest.
Within the ‘fake it until you make it’ mantra there is a kernel of truth in that once you ‘make it’ you will be acknowledged as a ‘mover and a shaker’ and the acclaim will follow.
BUT – this article is NOT aimed at those who want to ‘fake it until you make it’ but rather at those who are already acknowledged experts in their field.
So, How Do You Become Acknowledged Widely as an Expert?
Simple – you tell people, you market yourself, you write about what you do, you solve problems for people and, didn’t I already say this? You keep on telling people just how much of an expert you are.
How Do You Keep This Going?
You get published by other writers, other writers quote you and value your opinions. you continue contributing.
An insider secret to Gqeberha is that we have mounds of talented experts in all areas of our society. Unfortunately many of them move on to other metropolitan areas and countries where there talents are better appreciated.
Personally I think that we are missing a huge marketing opportunity for our city by not lauding these experts and their association with our City.
So This is a Personal Encouragement
As an expert from Gqeberha and Nelson Mandela Bay you can get into the front of the queue by listing your expertise on our MyPR #JournoRequest publication.
WHY?
I have discerned a growing need from journalists and content writers for access to home grown local experts and my reasoning is based on the ‘sameness’ that Search Engines and AI give to any comments.
The path to great content is localising one’s articles.
To that end we have embarked on an addition to MyPR – MyPR #JournoRequest – which is now seeking LOCAL Experts in their field/s to list on the site with the view to being contacted for comments and/or opinions for mention in the news or content sites.

It is a known reality that, in today’s world, journalists and content writers often seek expert opinions and commentary for their articles.
Yes, it is easy enough to turn to Search Engines and AI to rehash previously published comments from experts BUT, herin lies the rub:
- Often those comments are from persons outside of South Africa/Africa
- Often those comments have no real value as they appear on many other sites
- When one is writing from a South African/African context it is WAY BETTER to have a ‘local’ comment
- Engaging with an EXPERT is one way for the writer to gain UNIQUE content and for the EXPERT to gain greater exposure for them and their industry.
In 2012 MyPR was born out of a need to find content for our web sites and the idea was simple: Create a resource that will allow Public Relations professionals to post press releases and for content hungry resources to use and republish those press releases.
Skip ahead to 2024 and in our continuing journey to put journalists and experts together we hit upon MyPR #JournoRequest.
This free service is based on the premise that we can help journalists get quotes and expert opinions from sources in the know and for the sources to get the exposure that they need.
