Hi Alan,
The article of Michael Du Plessis on 21.08.2014 refers.
I cannot see the situation getting much better even if the times of the soccer matches were changed, which is unlikely because of potential TV coverage being sought by officialdom at the stadium.
The stadium still wants to host as many other events as possible besides rugby and soccer because of their operating at a loss for which us ratepayers are paying. Much of this will probably be in the form of noisy concerts, etc. being held in the evening until whatever time.
The stadium should have never been built where it is now or even built in the first place particularly from a financial point of view.
I am still to be convinced that the stadium should be costing so much to run every month. Compare it with how the Boet Erasmus Stadium was run which I understand cost the ratepayer nothing.
Mike.

Agreed. The stadium is a disaster and never should have been built. The money should have been invested at school level and in the disadvantaged areas. Stadium CEO has no idea how to move forward. She thinks the louder they are the more people they will attract. Well they are attracting the riff raff. If you want a good knife fight go to the stadium. Or get hit in the face with a bottle as happened to some one I know. Or get into a fight so your children can witness it and be emotionally scarred for life. I now understand why the noise level is in contravention of municipal by laws as it is stadium management’s intention to attract the rough sort of people that enjoy loud music and boozy public shows of aggression. No finesse whatsoever. Wish we could go back to the days of the Boet where you could take your family (it was safe) you could have a conversation without screaming to be heard. You could even braai before the match. It was great. How sad that the CEO wants to attract the common riff raff. Perhaps that is the page that she reads from.
