Moer Mekaar, Ek Haat Vrede

6 July 2011 By Alan Straton

Just like beauty is in the eyes of the beholder then political allegiance can be discerned in the eyes of the DEPLOYED.

There we were distributing information and letting people know what was going on when a ‘non professional communications specialist’ – Ward 1 Councillor, Stanford Slabbert – distributed a communication (Localized Flooding Affected Several Areas in Nelson Mandela Bay) from ‘professional communications specialist’ Kupido Baron without any form of acknowledgement

Stanford, Stanford, Stanford – why oh why did you not acknowledge that the information came from Kupido – you lazy git?

And now we have the beginnings of a lovely public fight with everyone shouting; “He Said, She Said” and finding YET ANOTHER excuse for not getting along and doing some actual work – remember Service Delivery? Yup, now get on with it you two, meet behind the bicycle shed for a bit of a dust up, kiss or shake hands and then GO BACK TO FARGING WORK.

Young Kupido was understandably miffed when he penned his reply to Stanford below:

Yolandé/Stanford Slabbert/Democratic Alliance,

I find the underpinned release of the Democratic Alliance despicable since it is the flagrant plagiarism of a media statement that I sent out last night as part of my duties as a Communications Official DEPLOYED (Editors capitalisation and emphasis) in the Joint Operations Centre.

Your distribution of this statement under the name of a DA Councillor not only politicize the message, you are also using municipal resources to further the aim of your political organization.

Kindly also note that this is the umpteenth request from myself to have my name taken off your distribution list since you are deliberately sending political messages to municipal staff, which includes myself, that cannot be condoned.

Your immediate implementation of my request is demanded.

Regards

Kupido Baron

Oh, by the way, Kupido, thanks for the 153 media e-mail addresses that you provided me with.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.

This political $h!t is now getting too much.  The more people distributing the message the better, cause it means that it will reach more people.

Well said, Alan – I just shook my head when I saw the mail.

So basically everyone is now fighting like a bunch of panzy-ass babies about a dumb-ass email. I agree with @FireflyAfrica:disqus , it did reach more people, but instead of bitching about like a 3 year old that dropped her ice cream….DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM, go back to work, be productive instead of wasting 15 minutes writing a mail AND also using municipal resources to get your “message” across.
