Magnetic Storm has invested R2 million in the largest truck-mounted crane and load bed trailer vehicle in the Eastern Cape and will be making this available for hire.
The organisation has found an increasing need to move time-critical, heavy equipment and will guarantee pick-up times as part of its service. Volvo FM340 trailer is equipped with a Palfinger 74002 crane with wireless remote controls and can lift up to 36 tonnes and capable of lifting 6.9 tonnes, 13 metres high.
“Increasingly we are needing to move container offices, generators and other large, heavy equipment for our events, and speed is of the essence in many cases.” Explains Magnetic Storm MD, Glenn van Eck. “By making this investment, we have on demand the right resources to move event equipment and deliver on time, and not have to rely on external suppliers.”
Vehicle details: The Volvo FM 340 is a 8×4 chassis configuration with a 7.5m flat bed with low drop sides, and container locks allowing for six metre shipping containers. Load capacity is 37 tons.
The Palfinger 74002 crane has a lifting capacity of 25 tonnes, and its maximum reach upwards is 13.5m, and 12m sideways. Full extension lifting capacity is 6.9 tonnes.
It has a constant slew allowing for constant 360 degrees crane rotation, which is a unique feature for truck-mounted cranes. Crane is operated via wireless remote control.
