Live Organic Free Range Music

2 March 2011 By Siyathetha

Local band, 2Ché launched their first album, ‘Play it like it is’ to a sold out audience in November last year. They will be performing songs from the album live at Warmer Gardens this Sunday, March 06 from 13h00.

Focussing on their distinctive style of “organic, free-range” music, 2Ché is one of the most unique duos in South Africa. Using just electric bass, voice and rhythm guitar – the band creates an unbelievably full sound, turning every song into a musical experience for the listener.

2Ché describe their sound as “organic folk / pop”, and delight in breaking down music into its essential elements before re-creating it as a simple, yet indulgent piece of art. The duo boasts a number of original songs, but is also known for re-working hits from a wide range of genres.

Don’t miss out on the gig this Sunday where 2Ché will introduce listeners to a new perspective on old hits such as Walking in Memphis, Blackbird, Lightning Crashes, Mr Jones, Revolution, Summertime and Living on a Prayer.

The members of 2Ché include singer/songwriter and guitarist, Claire Harmse and bassist, Andrew Warneke. Harmse has made a name for herself on the Eastern Cape music scene and was the winner of the solo category in the Vodacom Live Music Awards held in East London in 2008. Her ‘real life’ lyrics and heartfelt delivery of every song captivates the audience.

Harmse is complemented by one of the Eastern Cape’s top bassists, Andrew Warneke, who changes the musical focus from the traditional bass line to a chord-and-melody texture. 2Ché fans marvel at the multi dimensional sound that Warneke is able to design from what is usually a rhythm section instrument.

Listen to 2Ché’s original music online on Facebook (2che), Myspace (2cheSA) and Reverb Nation.

2Ché will be performing live at Warmer Gardens this Sunday, March 06 from 13h00. Entrance is free and drinks and eats will be available.
