Let’s Talk About The Economy

By

Upon reading the above most people switch off and move on as the expectation is that the words, pithy words will all be on a high level and ultimately not implementable…

At it’s most basic form our economy is about:

  1. collecting more money than you spend
  2. keeping the money in as close an orbit to you as possible
  3. saving for a crappy day

With specific reference to Ward 7 our economy needs a hyper local focus.

We need to support our neighbours in the various suburbs within Ward 7.

We need to have networks in place that promote our Ward 7 neighbours and ourselves so that we can keep as much of the prosperity as possible within the boundaries of our Ward.

Start by:

  1. Choosing to shop at large shops (if you have to) ONLY with head offices and distribution centres IN Ward 7
  2. Promoting your business to Ward 7 residents
  3. Choosing to walk to a local shop and support them
  4. Encouraging Ward 7 businesses to employ people from Ward 7
  5. Spending your charitable contributions only in Ward 7
  6. Encouraging investment in Ward 7
  7. Listing your Ward 7 based business on https://ward7.co.za for free

Chief Cook, Bottle Washer and Broom Mechanic at MyPE
Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
