On 21 and 22 May the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra will present Last Night of the Proms in Africa.
Last Night of the Proms is an annual extravaganza in support of St Francis Hospice.
Richard Cock will be conducting the musical merriment, with soloist James Bhemgee – the street sweeper turned opera singer, who brought the country to a standstill when he won last year’s SA’s Got Talent competition.
Book at Computicket.
After winning SA’s Got Talent James said; ”For 13 years I’ve been unemployed, those 13 years were the hardest part of my life. I didn’t have opportunities to sing but I never gave up on my dream. I survived. I went through very tough times but I was and I am a believer.”

Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."
