Laser and Rebel Sailing Video

It has been a while since we have had a fleet of Laser Dinghies on the water of Algoa Bay. To my mind the best sailing conditions for Laser sailing fun are in an Easterly breeze which, being onshore, brings in a large messy swell allowing the sailor to ride the waves and get some real speed up. When you hear the rig creaking and groaning then you know it is time to hang on for dear life (or bail!).

One of the Algoa Bay Yacht Club Members, Thomas Ochabski, is a keen Laser (a one man dinghy) and Rebel (a 14 foot locally manufactured and designed skiff) sailor and he produced this video of his sailing exploits in the Port Elizabeth harbour and Algoa Bay. Towards the end of the video Thomas showcases his last Laser Fleet race at the 2012 Nationals in Swartvlei.
