Kirkwood Wildsfees bomas hosting genetic auction

Prime game from the Eastern Cape will go under the hammer in September in the Mayogi Bomas built in partnership with the annual SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees.

This follows extensions to the bomas by Jannie Dorfling of Mayogi and his two sons Dirkie and Arno, according to Johan Swart of the Kirkwood Wildsfees auction committee.

Being held on Wednesday, September 14, it will be at “genetic auction” of top quality breeding animals, most of which are from hartwater veld.

The auction will start at noon.

The Wildsfees entered into a partnership with Mayogi Safaris to host the annual SPAR Kirkwood Wildsfees auction in the bomas, as well as additional auctions during the year.

This will be the first time the bomas have been used for an auction outside of the Wildsfees, according to Swart.

They proved to be a success at both the 2015 and 2016 Wildsfees auctions.

Situated near Kirkwood and just off the R75, the modern bomas offer easy access for transporters and bidders.

Animals on auction include purebred Eastern Cape kudu, impala, blue wildebeest, nyala, waterbuck, eland, and common, black and a copper springbok.

Most of the animals will be on site in the bomas.

The auctioneer will be Corne Du Plessis from Ellisras.
