A subsidiary of Eveready, Kestrel Renewable Energy (Kestrel) is pushing its small-wind turbines within the UK. This business decision is following its endorsement by the UK Government for its Feed-In Tariff scheme and its certification as the only category one (less and 5kW) micro wind turbine.
Kestrel wind turbines can be seen on the beach front in Port Elizabeth as well as Walmer Park mall. If the PE winds weren’t strong enough, to become certified the wind turbine has gone through rigorous testing in north Scotland and withstood winds of up to 70 metres per second in tests.
Using Sapphire Street’s founder, Kimberley Nanson, and her background in the UK media and London PR agencies she will be overseeing the PR push and managing it from her Port Elizabeth office.
Kestrel sales and marketing director Leon Gouws said: “It makes sense to use Sapphire Street and its UK media contacts and experience to promote the wind turbines and their new status, with the benefit that she’s based in PE to meet face-to-face without the London fees!”
Sapphire Street founder and director Kimberley Nanson said: “The environment, and the care of, is an important message in the UK. Individuals and organisations can now install an endorsed and meticulously tested turbine which is proudly South African – great news for the SA green economy and the eco-conscious.”
