Join the MyPE Movember Team

1 November 2011 By Alan Straton

Campanile Movember
Campanile Moustache

At the risk of being boinked on the head by the Longhair, both the Kangaroo and I are getting with the programme and supporting Movember 2011.

And you can join our little team too – click here: Join the MyPE Movember Team. If you suck at growing a moustache (Yup, I am talking about the Longhair’s) you can sign up as a MoSista (as opposed to a MoBro) and give support to all those lazy git men trying to save on razor blades and time in the morning.

Donate to the MyPE Movember Team here.

Movember was started in Australia back in 1999. Participants, who are referred to as Mo Bro’s, start the month with a clean-shaven face and for the rest of November (Movember), groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.

MoBro’s and MoSista’s seek out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts, and at the end of the month, celebrate by hosting their own Movember party or attend one of Movember’s Gala Partés held in Cape Town and Johannesburg – we want our own party in Port Elizabeth so join the movement NOW.

All for a good cause of course. Movember strives to highlight the importance of Men’s Health, especially with regards to prostrate and testicular cancers. All funds raised in South Africa go directly to CANSA’s Men’s Health Programmes for prostate and testicular cancers. Online donations to the MyPE Movember Team is an effective way of supporting the fight against cancer.

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
