The question whether social media is taking over the world is the theme for the third Mandela Metropolitan University Public Relations’ Annual Student Conference on Thursday, 29 September 2011.
The purpose of this theme is to engage with researchers, professionals and students on emerging social media trends.
The four speakers are Businesswomen’s Association chairperson and public relations guru Michelle Brown, Boomtown Advertising’s Public Relations and Communication’s Strategist Elizabeth Fourie, NMMU Head of Journalism, Media and Philosophy Bianca Wright and lecturer Adelina Mbinjama.
The Public Relations Student Conference (PRSC) was initiated by the PR lecturers in 2009 with the objective of bridging the gap between theory and practice for the students. It also serves as a networking platform for upcoming professionals.
“This year’s student conference will be an interesting and exciting one, considering this current and relevant theme,” says PR student intern Noloyiso Stokwe.
The conference is not limited to NMMU staff and students, but to other tertiary institutions around Nelson Mandela Bay.
Researchers, lecturers and professionals from all disciplines who engage or would like to learn more about social media are welcome to attend.
