I am so glad I got your Ass fired ………

13 April 2014 By Alan Straton

An interesting no holds barred “is there, could there be, where is it” back and forth over the 2000 ton shipment of whale meat vessel – the Alma – looking to refuel in South Africa is currently going on between the Fisheries Management Branch of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of South Africa, DAFF, Democratic Alliance, MP Deputy Shadow Minister for DAFF – Pieter van Dalen MP and Feike Management’s Shaheen Moolla.

  • @DAFFisheries is the official Twitter account of the Fisheries Management Branch of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of South Africa
  • @Feikemanagement is the official Twitter account of Feike run by Shaheen Moolla who specialises in providing high level legal, policy, institutional and governance advice on fisheries and aquaculture.
  • @PietervanDalen is the official Twitter account of Pieter van Dalen a Democratic Alliance, MP Deputy Shadow Minister for DAFF and DA Spokesperson on Fisheries.

Whilst the vessel Alma appears to be escaping South African waters the three above have been hurling insults at each other:

Feike: Hvalur H/F’s ship Alma is currently transporting 2000 tonnes of whale meat to Japan via SA waters & @DAFFisheries is refusing to act!
Reply from Fisheries Management: @Feikemanagement #ALMA is a cargo ship, transporting whale meat not caught in SA waters. According to #MLRA there is nothing #DAFF can do.
Four part reply from Feike: Dont be ridiculous! The MLRA is clear that any vessel carrying fish and fish products regardless of where its caught must be authorised BY DAFF to enter our ports. Are you unaware of the PSM agreement as well? This is a frightening statement! Why does DAFF happily intervene & inspect any other vessel carrying fish caught in foreign waters or the high seas? The ? has to be asked why is DAFF refusing to act against ALMA despite the fact that the MLRA requires intervention.
Cop out from Fisheries Management: #DAFFisheries will no longer entertain #Alma on Twitter and refers all media queries to its spokesperson.
To which Feike: replies: @DAFFisheries clearly an admission of failure & wrongdoing

Fisheries Management: permits fishing vessels entry, not cargo vessels.
Pieter van Dalen MP: Then you dont know your duty. Why otherwise would DAFF be involved. Read MLRA????
Fisheries Management: #daff is not involved, you are involving it. #DAFF is doing all it can and will not overstep its boundaries to satisfy those who don’t know the law.
Pieter van Dalen MP: I might not know law but I am reporting transgression to EU, WWF, MSC, Interpol and UN as we speak.
Fisheries Management: Anything for free media and attention. Typical of you.
Feike: Is DAFF truly so incompetent! Next we will be accused of being racists for demanding compliance with the MLRA!

Pieter van Dalen MP: Then you dont know your duty. Why otherwise would DAFF be involved. Read MLRA????
Fisheries Management: #daff is not involved, you are involving it.
ChrisHani’s Son: Don’t take the #DA’s No.28 (on WC-list) too serious. He is an unhappy man.
Pieter van Dalen MP: and you are a discarded NO WORTH, jobless, ANC crony.
ChrisHani’s Son: At least I was not in Parly for 5-years and told I’m of little worth, No28.
Pieter van Dalen MP: at least I got your useless ass fired!!!

And Pieter van Dalen still has a Job? Are you worthless if you belong to the ANC and you don’t have a job?
    Way to go DA!
The arrogance of the DA is starting to get to me.
