Heavenly Culture World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Aljazeera media network, one of the world’s most respected news and current affairs channels, to achieve their common goals: the cessation of war and world peace. The agreement was signed in the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas, in Seoul, South Korea. It is HWPL’s first MOU with the global media. Attendees were HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee, director of Aljazeera Center of Public Liberties and Human Rights (PL&HR) Sami Elhag, and senior producer of Aljazeera Center of PL&HR Mohamed Eltayeb Elkhidir.
Mr. Elkhidir participated in the Proclamation Ceremony of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War that was held on the 14 March which marked the beginning of collaborative efforts towards peace. Mr. Lee’s dedication to achieving world peace has been documented by Aljazeera numerous times and through the coverage, this led to meeting Mr. Elhag who helped formulate the Doha Declaration specifically dedicated to protecting journalists worldwide. Finally, the 2 journalists took part in the 2nd Commemoration of the World Alliance of Religions’ Peace (WARP) Summit and made MOU between Al Jazeera and HWPL.
Close collaboration was promised by Mr. Elhag and Mr. Lee who emphasized the role of global networks to achieve world peace and appreciated the cooperation and help of Aljazeera. This historical moment was caught on camera by Mr. Elkhidir. The idea to become one to achieve world peace and the important role of youth were strongly featured in their discussion.
The purpose of MOU is that the two organizations join together to lead the peace movements through spreading a culture of peace and peace education to women, youth, and religious leaders. HWPL’s peace activities will be broadcasted in English, Arabic, Turkish etc. to over 140 countries across the globe and special documentaries about HWPL will be made. In addition, ways to protect journalists’ rights, one of the Aljazeera’s initiatives, will also be discussed.
At this year’s summit, leaders in the field of politics, law, religions, and civil society have gathered to discuss concrete action plans for each sector to advocate for a legally binding document in line with the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). Fifty-nine broadcasters shared ideas of how they can draw people’s support as journalists at the press conference and the media forum.

This is really amazing. Gives me hope that peace can be achieved when such an influential and internationally respected news broadcaster such as Al Jazeera agrees to actively work together with organizations such as HWPL to cease wars.
