www.MyPE.co.za: From the ADT Security Crime Newsletter we have picked out a couple of interesting crime incidents:
Humewood Tragedy Averted: The immediate response of an ADT officer saved the life of a Humewood guest house owner when he apprehended a suspect on the premises on Sunday morning, 06 March 2011.
The suspect gained access to the guest house in Driftsands Drive and attempted to strangle the client who succeeded in alerting ADT.
The officer checked the house but found no sign of the intruder. While checking the garden he found the suspect trying to gain access to house for a second time and apprehended him on the spot after positive identification was made by the client.
Sidwell shop owner robbed at gun point: Three suspects entered a shop and held a client at gun point taking his keys and locking him in the store room. The suspects stole R 3000.00 in cash from the cash register and one cell phone. Fortunately no one was injured in the robbery.
Algoa Park targeted in attempted break-ins: Residents in Algoa Park are alerted to the fact that two attempted break-ins during the day on Tuesday, 01 March had the same modus operandi where suspects attempted to gain access to properties by breaking open doors. No items were reported stolen.
The key to securing our homes and places of business is constant vigilance. An interested neighbor or observant passer-by can make the difference when it comes to our success in the fight against crime.
Kwadesi business targeted by burglars after hours: In the early hours of 05 March burglars gained access to a business in Kwadesi Avenue by forcing open a glass front door and taking electronic goods. The estimated value of the equipment and damage is R 8000.00.

CRIME FORUM NEWS
Newton Park Sector Crime Forum and Neighbourhood Watch
According to the Newton Park Sector Crime Forum and Neighbourhood Watch there has been an increase in burglaries, especially at business premises. The forum urges everyone in the area to get involved. The next meeting of the forum will be held on 5 April 2011 at Elizabeth Place at 18h30. Contact the forum from 8am to 6pm on 082 788 0320 and after hours on 083 544 1344.
Millard Grange Crime Forum
The Millard Grange Crime Forum has requested residents to report all crimes to the South African Police Services. This they say is because the number and types of crimes in an area are determinants in how much staffing police stations in areas receive. It may seem like a hassle to report a crime, but if you don’t you are putting the community at risk.
ADT Security Managing Director Mike Byers said, “We work closely with the SAPS and we strongly urge victims of crime to report these incidents to the police.” The forum also reports a number of break-ins in cars in the area. The next meeting will be held on 31 March 2011 at 18h00 at the Lawson Brown School Hall.
