Easter is a time of joy, a celebration of life and love. For these patients it means a little surprise and happiness and excitement whilst facing their incredibly big challenge – the daily fight against Cancer. Board member and representative for the Igazi Foundation, Zodwa Dube was delighted with the support and added “This is the year of the teenage patient. Most times we forget the teenage patients, they are not children anymore but they are not adults yet. It’s harder for them with hormones and all, to then have to still deal with a life threatening disease as well. They appreciate these random acts of kindness.”
In the spirit of Easter, Rushmere Noach handed out Easter eggs, marshmallows, bunnies and sweet treats to the patients and staff alike of the Aloe Oncology ward as well as a donation of books to the Paediatric Oncology Ward Library. “The Igazi Foundation is the only dedicated Haematological Services NGO in the country and we are proud to be associated with Rushmere Noach who at this time of the year have opened their hearts to the patients who cannot be with their families at this time.” Cole Cameron, spokesperson for the Igazi Foundation.
“We also invite and encourage the Port Elizabeth community to support the Igazi Foundation, founded in the friendly city. They have always done exceptional work and are recognized both nationally and internationally. Igazi has made it possible for the local community to receive medical care that was only previously available in other major cities. The passion of the doctors and staff is incredible and truly inspiring. All you need to do is visit the Igazi Aloe or Paediatric Oncology wards at Provincial Hospital to fully appreciate what this amazing Foundation has achieved over the last six years.” Liane Koorsse, Director.
