This year sees the 22nd annual Port Elizabeth Toy Run®, a charity event that raises much needed funds for organisations supporting children, taking place on Sunday 24th November 2013.

With the aim of helping many underprivileged children each year, the 2013 primary beneficiaries have been selected, namely the Christelike Maastskaplike Raad, Lelethu Baby Shelter, Sakhisizwe Creche (Hankey) and Aurora. In addition, ad hoc funds will go towards CHOC projects and a few selected minor projects – all involving children in need.

On the Saturday of the event weekend, the committee and supporting motorcycle clubs hosts a party for up to 350 underprivileged children from invited children’s homes and care centres. This is made possible by generous sponsors and donors without whom this event, that brings so much delight to children who would otherwise have not have had the experience, would not take place. The joy and delight on these children’s faces at this annual party, makes all the hard work of fundraising extremely heart warming.

Generous sponsors have once again come to the fore with prizes for the 2013 sale of raffle tickets and these are: 1st Prize a 125 EStorm Honda motorcycle sponsored by Auto Motorcycles; 2nd prize R10 000 Pick n Pay Hypermarket voucher; 3rd prize weekend for two adults and two children at Blanco Holiday Farm and Guest Resort and a 4th prize being a weekend for two adults for two nights at Beacon Island Resort, Plettenberg Bay.

Through the 2012 event, R165 000 was raised and five beneficiaries, namely Victory Kids (Special needs), Sunrise Pre School, Ncedanani Pre School, Zama SA and Bethel Safe House, amongst numerous ad hoc donations ,benefitted immensely making a difference in the lives of many needy children.

Businesses and the public are encouraged to come forward with any donation / sponsorship – no matter how big or small – in making the 2013 Toy Run® event a success.
