Gimme your Blood or Forty Bucks

Roland GasparEntertainment can sometimes be expensive. Instead of charging ‘an arm and a leg’ for their comedy improvisation show on Tuesday the 17th of March, the Whose Line PE crew is asking audience members to pay in blood – actual blood.

Fortunately it’s not as macabre as it sounds. The blood will be donated to the SANBS, who will be parking their mobile unit outside the Music Kitchen from 3pm to 7pm. Any member of the public can donate blood on the day, and each donor will receive two free tickets to the evening’s show which starts at 7:30pm.

SANBS PR Practitioner Maryke Harris says “Blood shortages are a serious matter, but it’s nice to see that these Comedians can bring attention to blood donation in a new and fun way. Every unit of blood we receive is extremely important and can help us save up to 3 people’s lives.”

TV Actor and Comedian Roland Gaspar, the founder of the Whose Line PE group added “We want to remind people that donating blood doesn’t have to be a scary or otherwise negative experience and it can be done in a spirit of fun and camaraderie. Besides, it’s really going to have a huge fun factor when people tell their friends they paid in actual blood to get into a Comedy show!”

For those unable to donate blood, the regular entrance fee of R40 per person will apply and that’s why this instalment of the popular weekly Comedy Improv show has been named “Blood or Money”.
