Fuelling entrepreneurial spirit

In the spirit of entrepreneurism that Boomtown was founded, it is investing in the entrepreneurs of today, and tomorrow.

Entrepreneurship in South Africa is reported to be at its lowest level in three years. The latest Global Entrepreneurship Monitor report found less than 14% of South Africans surveyed planned to start a business within the next three years. It also found “total entrepreneurial activity” fell to 7.3% in 2012, a 1.8% drop from the previous year.

Boomtown has chosen local company, Proficia IT to assist in building their business. Setup in March 2011, the duo Mzwamadoda Zamisa and Kwasi Asera-Baah, began the business to service the city’s small business’ IT needs and deliver solutions specific to their business requirements.

Specifically, Boomtown has provided mentorship, financial support and new business leads to Proficia to build their business and become another Port Elizabeth success story.

Proficia IT’s co-owner, Mzwamadoda Zamisa said: “It has been a tremendous support to have guidance as we enter our third year of business. So far in2013 we have seen better progress compared to our first two years in business. We have managed to secure well-paying clients, and our brand is becoming better recognized with more referrals coming through.”

He concluded that: “We are very grateful of what Boomtown has done for us. The funding has brought us peace of mind and helped us focus more on new business and better quality work. “
