Dear MyPE
The DA notes with concern reports of fuel shortages in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (NMBM) due to repairs to the Transport depot. No fuel can currently be offloaded at the depot.
The failure of Eskom and Transnet is militating towards the shutdown of the Eastern Cape economy.
I have contacted the DA’s Shadow Minister of Transport, Manny de Freitas, to alert the national Department of Transport of the imminent crises in the Metro.
It is impossible to run a modern economy with rolling electricity blackouts occurring daily, compounded by lack of fuel.
If parastatals that are responsible for critical infrastructure cannot be managed, the impact will be catastrophic for the economy of the Eastern Cape.
