Last week the Fidelity Security Group stood together in an attempt to collectively make a difference for Mandela Day. The effort was made by members from Fidelity Security Services as well as recently acquired Fidelity ADT. The group held initiatives across South Africa where all employees were given the opportunity to not only donate for a good cause, but also to spend some quality time with the respective charity organizations.
“The Fidelity Security Group is passionate about giving back to our communities and realise the importance of corporate social responsibility. This year we decided to get behind Mandela Day with our Fidelity Foundation serving as the cornerstone for identifying and donating much needed goods to various charity organizations across our national footprint,” says Group Corporate Affairs Director, Nonhlanhla Ndwandwe.
In the coastal region, the Fidelity Security Services and Fidelity ADT offices donated food parcels and blankets to charity organizations such as the Summer Hill House in KwaZulu-Natal, Safe Hands and Elizabeth Stuurman Old Age Home in Port Elizabeth, as well as the Meals on Wheels organization in the Western Cape (at an event held at the Liberty Promenade Mall in Mitchells Plain).
“All these organizations gained much needed support for basic requirements such as food for their feeding schemes and blankets to keep them warm during winter. It is incredible to see the large amount of generosity shown by these organizations and their staff, hence it made sense for us to capitalize on the opportunity to recognize their efforts and show our appreciation,” explains Ndwandwe.
The initiatives also gave staff the chance to engage with members of the public who formed part of these organizations which were supported.
“It was good to see staff members serving food to the elderly, playing sports with the children from the orphanages, preparing meals and even taking part in some singing activities.
“The Fidelity Security Group realizes the importance of finding a balance between people, planet and profit, and these initiatives helps us to make a difference in the life’s of other people. I would like to congratulate all our staff members for getting involved, especially the organizing committees who drove these initiatives in their respective regions” says Ndwandwe.
