Fault Report: 09/02/2021 – @NMandelaBaymuni – Ward 5

9 February 2021 By Port Elizabethan

On 09/02/2021 Selma Watson reported a fault in Ward 5: (Millard Grange, Mount Croix, North End, Central, South End) at 59 Upper Hill Street Central Port Elizabeth, 59 Upper Hill Street.

Fault Details:

Problem reported: Other

Detail:

I have been charged an accumulative figure of 1.190 units in excess of electricity consumption as at 25/1/2 at my house 59 Upper Hill Street Central where I have been staying since 1984. A NMBM text was sent me to phone 506 5528 with the correct reading on 4/2/21. This number told me it is not working. The same day I got through to this number again and via my pin gave the correct reading. I contacted Customer Care 28/1/21and asked for a corrected statement to be sent me. On 4/2/21 they told me my account is registered to submit meter readings by way of automated process and no manual reading can be accepted, despite them sending me an email to do so. They told me to download their app. I also told them I do not possess a smart phone. They request I pay R2.158,60 by 22/2/21. I am 73 yrs old and have just come out of hospital and cannot go down and stand in their queue, and told them this. I do not have this type of money to pay. They have sent me two notices to come down to their offices. On 8/11/20 my electricity meter and water was read by one of their officials who said he would be doing this every month from then on. I took down the same reading but this did not appear on my statement and each month thereafter the readings have been estimated by the NMBM. I have sent six emails to customer care so far, but this their has been no further assistance other than the above. I had also invited them to come and verify the truthfulness of what I said above. There has been not further progress on this. Who must I turn to please for help. Thank you Selma Watson
