The Eastern Province Cricket Board joins the entire nation in paying tribute to the late former State President Dr Nelson Mandela. Nelson Mandela was an icon and a beacon of hope to all the people of South Africa.
“He stood firm against the injustice of racial oppression and most importantly he taught us that irrespective of our differences we must learn to forgive, to reconcile even if we differ in ideologies” said the President of Eastern Province Cricket Dr Malcolm Figg.
According to Tono Mle acting CEO of EP Cricket Madiba was one of those people who has devoted his life to alleviating the plight of the deprived and his humbleness, selflessness, dedication is what makes him unique to others. He was indeed a great leader in every respect.
“Going forward the key is to start the conversation around how his ideals and the values he stood for are going to be taken forward. We now need quality leaders who are going to carry the baton.”
