Spare a thought and a few tins of food for children no longer being fed at Motherwell Soup Kitchens
The Emama Nutrition and Art Gallery based in Motherwell NU10. As a Non Profit, Emama’s main contribution to the community is bi-weekly Soup kitchen and evening rations.
The lockdown – which has hit Soup Kitchens, Schools, Nursery Schools, Creches And After Hours Fcilities – has cut off many vulnerable children’s access to vital nutrition and what, for many, is there only meal of the day.
Thulani Swartbooi, the Emama Logistics Manager, writes; “With the COVID19 outbreak causing schools and NPOs to close in South Africa, we are faced with many more hungry and undernourished children at our Soup kitchens doorstep. In order to help children and parents in need, we organize food packages for them.”
“We now possess the certification and permits to feed during the lockdown. We are however short on resources such as protective gear like surgical masks and gloves. We also have a need for: styrofoam medical packaging, fresh produce, warm clothing, blankets etc. Sanitizer and a few fit hands would also be well appreciated as dispersal measures will be taken,” concluded Swartbooi
If you can assist in any way then please make use of the dropoff point at 23 Irvine Street, Richmond Hill OR 13 Piet Retief Street, Uitenhage.
Arrangements for pick-up can also be made with Thulani Swartbooi on 0837891449.
Media personnel are welcome to contact the Non Profit on 0785072128 to arrange for permit.
