Commenting on the placing of the Eastern Cape Department of Education under administration, DA MPL Edmund van Vuuren said; “The Democratic Alliance concurs wholeheartedly with the decision of the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, to place the Eastern Cape Department of Education under administration. Although the DA is opposed to centralisation, we agree in this case that any intervention that is for the benefit of the learners in this province should be supported.
The DA has warned the department on numerous occasions that it is dysfunctional because it is riddled with people who simply cannot do their jobs.
This department has a leadership and management problem. The solution to the impasse is for a skills audit to be commissioned and a wholesale sacking of people incapable of performing their tasks.
We already had four national interventions without any positive sustainable results. The DA sincerely hopes that this time around this intervention will produce the anticipated outcomes. This department has for far too long failed thousands of disadvantaged leaders. It should be demolished and restarted all over again. The DA will be watching closely to see how this process unfolds.”

Oh! FINALLY, the National Department of Education has decided to respond to our cries and complaints, and intervene to maladministration, inefficiency and CRUELTY: for it is very very inhuman to temper with people’s service records, pay them what you think they deserve, as if they were working for you and you are doing them a favour, and then throw their valuable service records into the sea, so that there wont be any trace of the EVIL you have done. You can run, but you cannot hide. They will find you!
Fortunately some of us were taught to keep all valuable documents from receipts, bank statements to correspondence during your period of service,so our claims will not be unsubtantiated.
Foward to those who truly fight for justice and equal rights for all irrespective of the Political or religious party they belong to ” For WE are ALL equal in the eyes of GOD, and HE is in CONTROL, no matter what.
WE ARE WATCHING WITH KEEN INTEREST !
Dont bother to direct this to ME as this is only meant to be a comment as indicated.
Some people take long to learn easy lessons, and these are definitely Not the kind of people we would like to have as our leaders at this point in time. With regard to the problems cited about the Eastern Cape Department of Education: as early as 1998 the then MEC for Education admitted that there were “bottle necks” in the system and these would be addressed. Its as if she meant ” you havent seen anything so far, the worst is still to come”.
I draw attention to the stalling of the process of the redress of pensions of the apartheid era which was approved ages ago. There has been no significant progress in the E.C, Dept of Education, no correlation among the stakeholders involved, despite that the provincial directors and managers have been fully trained and provided with all the necessary tools to handle this systematically and efficientlt.
Yes, I agree there are some officials who are not teacheable and can therefore not cope with the current changes.” Basadla ngendebe endala” and this is not working for us. Vuka Eastern Cape, Vuka!
