One would think that upon hearing that two former friends of mine are reffered to as ‘Dronkie and Dronker’ in their close circle that I would be happy.
BUT, I have had the chance to examine just how I felt about these two people who were a bit of a ‘problem’ in my life.
AND, surpisingly I did not have any feelings of glee or smugness only sadness that these two have slid into a dark place that very negatively affects their health and standing in the community.
Maybe it is a function of age but I do find my ‘sympathy brain’ becoming more and more …… sympathetic to other people’s pain and frustrations.
I realise that I cannot fix anyone’s problems but, as a start, I can understand and modify my behaviour to not be censurious nor to revel in other people’s problems.
