At a recent gathering of high(ish) level politicians and business people I was asked to pose with a number of the delegates.
This, I thought, was a mark of respect and acceptance of my long standing contribution to our city that we all love so much, until one of the delegates remarked; “Do I have to pose with this old WHITE man?”
You can call me ‘old’, you can call me ‘man’ BUT, in these racially charged times I would really appreciate NOT being identified by the colour of my skin thank you.
