Do You Ride Down Mount Road Daily? Are YOU Exercising Your Middle Finger?

7 August 2023 By Alan Straton

If you do then you will know what a bun fight it can be at the robots guarding the intersection between Mount and Harrower Roads as cars navigate the final section of road from the robots to Govan Mbeki.

The ‘problem child lane’ is the one on the down run closest to Tavcor – this lane feeds directly to the turning lane into Govan Mbeki and NOT to the Summerstrand or NBluewtaer Bay on ramps.

The lane to the left of that feeds to the lane that crosses Goven Mbeki Avenue and onto the freeway on ramp to Summerstrand. This lane has become one that ‘splits’ into two lanes as people wait for the robots to turn green.

The lane to the left of that one feeds either the Summerstrand or Bluewater Bay on ramp or to those wishing to turn left onto Govan Mbeki Avenue.

NOW, what happens is that the right hand side lane closest to Tavcor is invariably not piled up with traffic wanting to hit the Govan Mbeki Avenue right turn off so we always get a ‘boy racer’ that spots the ‘gap’ and bypasses the law abiding citizens waiting in the left hand side lanes as he takes his place revving his engine waiting for the green light. And then when the robots turn green they either RACE to get ahead or just wander into the left hand side lane. On occasion boy racers in the right hand side lane will veer across all five lanes in the short stretch of road up to Govan Mbeki Avenue pissing everyone off with their entitled attitude.

What makes it worse is that if you stick to your guns and STAY IN YOUR LANE the miscreants attempting to race or wander into the left hand side lane that you occupy sometimes hoot and send you one fingered salutes.

One day I am going to get out of my car and, with the aid of spray paint, demonstrate to these idiots just how kak they drive!

Ja, I am looking at you Mr White Caddy Driver with a Sea Rescue Sticker on the back – of all people I would expect you to know the rules of the road. By the way your partner/girlfriend/wife/woman you kidnapped has a beautiful and sexy middle finger, I am sure she could find a better use thereof!

I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
