Diarise the World of Wheels Show

24 October 2012 By Alan Straton

The Herald, World of Wheels Nelson Mandela Bay Motor Fair, hosted by the Eastern Province Veteran Car Club (EPVCC), will be held on Saturday, 1 December 2012

This will be the second year, following on from the very successful 2011 event. The venue will again be the Newton Technical High School playing fields between Westview Drive and Mowbray Street, Westview, Port Elizabeth.

Last year the show, despite the bad weather conditions (we will try to do better this time) attracted 325 cars and bikes on display, in excess of 50 stalls, and 2 500 visitors came through the gates. This year the EPVCC are aiming for 400 cars and bikes, and in excess of 4 000 spectators.

We plan to make this year’s event even more successful, with more vehicles on display as well as more stalls and an auction, with contributions to local Hospice.

The aim is to provide the exhibitor with an event in which he can promote his products and services, whether they are home industries, or commercial businesses.

For clubs, it is a means of showcasing their vehicles and interests to a wide range of the public in order to grow the interest as well as providing them with a means of fundraising.

The public have the unique opportunity of being exposed to a wide range of interests, both motor and non-motor related. The fair has a variety of stalls and activities that will create an interesting, friendly and enjoyable day for all in the family.

This year, an auction of approximately 25 Classic, Vintage and Sports Cars will take place, further enhancing the event. The proceeds will go to a local charity.

For further information regarding the auction, contact Bert Scheepers on email: bert33[at]telkomsa.net, or wendy.r[at]telkomsa.net or phone 082 566 7897.

Roger McCleery, the well known Motor Sport commentator and journalist will be the commentator for the fair.

A Show and Shine, as well as a Sound Competition will take place towards the end of the day. Last year, this was a very popular attraction and was well supported.

For further information, contact Rodney Idris on email: idrisathome[at]telkomsa.net or phone 083 656 9170.
