Dear Auntie @HelenZille – Your Assumption About ‘Smaller Parties’ Refers

21 October 2021 By Alan Straton

As my Sainted Grandmother used to say; “Assumption is the Mother of all Fargups!”

I have listened with wonder at your expensive Radio Adverts (thank you ALL taxpayers for contributing) that feature you and Uncle John warning the good folks from Mzansi (*) that by voting for smaller parties we will be giving the power to the ANC and the EFF.

That assumption is wrong on so many levels and here are but a few:

  1. Your assumption that only DA Voters are being targeted by the smaller parties is entirely wrong – look at the kaleidoscope of people involved and you will see that the overwhelming number are from parties OTHER than the DA
  2. Your assumption that only the DA can ‘save’ Mzansi (*) is so wrong, so entitled and so colonial on so many levels that I wonder what your scriptwriters were smoking. Mzansi’s people (*) will save Mzansi (*).
  3. Your assumption that Mzansi’s people (*) are so stupid that you need to continue raking up the old apartheid bogeyman of ‘swart gevaar’ then I am afraid that you have lost complete control of reality.

(*) Mzansi – your use of the word refers: I used to feel quite warm when you started using that word but now it has become one tainted with derision. I can see why you use the word as it probably makes you feel that you are talking to the ‘natives’ and THAT is why I now find it abhorrent. Let’s be frank – our countries name is SOUTH AFRICA – just like the City of Gqeberha is now called Gqeberha so please stop referring to Gqeberha as Port Elizabeth in official documents and public engagements!
