Dear Andile Lungisa – Challenge Accepted

ANC councillors and former NYDA head, Andile Lungisa claimed that some of their counterparts, including former mayor Danny Jordaan, were locked out by security during the election of the Nelson Mandela Bay leadership in Port Elizabeth on 18 August 2016.

The meeting was scheduled for 10:00 am and the gathered hacks were already postulating that the ANC was ‘up to something’ as their supporters were glaringly absent outside the Feathermarket Hall in Baakens Street, Port Elizabeth.

Lungisa, in one of the many online clips challenged a news agency to check their recordings – albeit on another matter where he said that the EFF had not voted for the new Mayor Trollip so their six votes of the 67 cast would mean that there was not a majority. It seems as though friend Andile needs a maths lesson though as even if the EFF had not voted or voted with the ANC the 61 YES votes cast still represent a majority in the 120 seat council.

This is the same Lungisa who allegedly defrauded the Department of Arts and Culture of R2.5-million in 2013 by claiming fees for the appearance of American R&B artist R Kelly at the Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day concert at the FNB stadium. The case carries on after many delays.
